Hornets RFC has been in existence since 1960, providing both competitive and social rugby programs within the community for over 55 years. The Hornets are home to three senior men’s teams, two senior women’s team and ten junior teams, totalling over 450 members. The club is renowned for the quality of its youth development program, which is currently the most successful program in the province in the development of young athletes with key life skills. The Hornets’ Men’s Division 1 team holds the 2009, 2011,2012 and 2013 Provincial Championship title and achieved top spot in 2016 Alberta Cup Regular Season play. The Hornets’ Premiere Women’s Division holds the 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2016 Provincial Championship title and is by far the strongest team in the province.
The Hornets strive to broadly promote the sport of rugby in Calgary and Alberta, develop competitive rugby players who wish to play rep-level rugby, including the Canadian National team, Canada 7s, Rugby Alberta, Prairie Wolf Pack Rugby, CIS Rugby and the Calgary Mavericks.
